FoxESS H3-Pro Installation with Two EP12 Batteries: Neat, Labelled and Built to Last

At Sundial Solar we install FoxESS systems regularly. As a Cape Town-based FoxESS installer and Energy Bee’s installation partner, we take a lot of pride in how a system looks once the covers go back on. This project is a good example: a FoxESS H3-Pro hybrid inverter paired with two FoxESS EP12 batteries, with every DB clearly labelled. Here’s how it came together and what to look for in a quality FoxESS H3-Pro installation.

The brief: solar power with dependable battery backup

The goal was simple: generate solar power during the day, store it, and keep the home running when the grid isn’t there. That’s the same thing most of our Western Cape clients ask for when they want solar battery backup. To do it properly, the inverter, the batteries and the protection in the distribution boards all have to suit each other.

We chose a FoxESS H3-Pro hybrid inverter with two FoxESS EP12 battery modules. Because the pairing is designed to work together, the inverter and the batteries communicate properly. That matters for charging, discharging and long-term battery health.

Panels up on the roof

Solar panels installed in neat rows on a tiled roof

Every good solar system starts on the roof. The team mounted the panel array in neat, even rows on the tiled roof. Careful layout and secure mounting protect the roof, look tidy from the street and help the array perform.

Mounting the FoxESS H3-Pro and the EP12 batteries

The FoxESS H3-Pro inverter went up on the wall with the two FoxESS EP12 batteries mounted directly below it. Keeping them close together keeps cable runs short and tidy. It also leaves clear space for airflow and future servicing.

Why the FoxESS EP12 battery?

The FoxESS EP12 is a modular lithium battery designed for FoxESS hybrid inverters. Its modular design lets storage be planned around a household’s needs, and its slim wall-mounted format keeps the installation compact.

Safety first: labelled DBs

Labelled distribution board with solar protection devices

A solar system is only as good as its electrical work. Every distribution board (DB) on this job was clearly labelled. If you or an electrician ever need to isolate part of the system, you know exactly which breaker does what. Labelled DBs make maintenance safer, fault-finding faster and handover clearer. They’re also a quick way to tell a careful installer from a rushed one.

Testing and commissioning

Before handover, the team tested the system with proper meters to confirm the wiring and readings were correct. Only then was the system commissioned and switched on.

The finished system: neat workmanship you can see

The result is a clean plant room: the FoxESS H3-Pro, the two EP12 batteries and labelled DBs, all neatly mounted and easy to access. This job was delivered on the KZN coast through our partnership with Energy Bee, and it’s the same standard of finish we bring to every FoxESS installation in Cape Town and across the Western Cape.

Choosing a FoxESS installer in Cape Town: what to look for

If you’re comparing FoxESS installers in Cape Town, look past the price. Ask to see photos of finished jobs. Check that DBs are labelled and the cabling is neat. Ask who handles commissioning and after-sales support. A tidy, documented installation is easier to maintain, easier to insure and easier to expand if you later want more panels or battery storage.

Why Fox ESS?

We install FoxESS regularly because it gives our clients a well-integrated hybrid inverter and battery system from one manufacturer. With the inverter and battery from the same brand, set-up, monitoring and warranty support are simpler, which means fewer surprises down the line.
