Updated November 2026 · SAPVIA Certified · PV GreenCard installer · CoC on every install
Getting a solar quote in Cape Town should not mean filling in a long form and waiting a week for a call. At Sundial Solar you answer five short questions, we look at your bill and your roof, and you get a written, itemised quote, usually within 24 hours. You can also see our kit prices up front, from R93,500 for a 6 kW kit, so you know the ballpark before you speak to anyone.
We are a SAPVIA Certified installer based in Big Bay, Bloubergstrand, and we install across the City of Cape Town and the wider Western Cape. Every system is designed by us, installed by a PV GreenCard installer and signed off with an electrical Certificate of Compliance (CoC).

What a good solar quote should include
Many Cape Town homeowners compare three quotes and find they cannot compare them at all. One lists a brand and a price, another lists panel wattage but no battery size, a third leaves out the CoC and the City registration. A quote from Sundial Solar always shows:
- Equipment by brand and model: panels (we typically use JA Solar 620 W modules), the inverter and the battery, with capacity in kWh, not just “a battery”.
- System size in kWp and an estimate of monthly generation for your roof direction and tilt.
- Mounting suited to your roof: tile hooks, IBR clamps or a tilt frame for flat roofs.
- Protection and wiring: DC and AC isolators, surge protection, changeover and DB work.
- Compliance: CoC, and the paperwork for City of Cape Town small-scale embedded generation (SSEG) registration.
- Warranty terms for each component and for our workmanship.
How our quote process works
- Five questions online. Your need, monthly bill, suburb, timeline and how to reach you. It takes under a minute and opens WhatsApp with your details.
- We check your roof remotely. Using aerial imagery we look at roof orientation, pitch and obvious shading.
- Written quote, usually within 24 hours. Sent on WhatsApp or email, with a clear price incl. VAT.
- Free site check before you commit. We confirm the DB board, cable routes, inverter and battery position and any shading. The final price is fixed after this visit.
- Installation and sign-off. Most homes take one to two days, followed by CoC and SSEG paperwork.
Comparing quotes: watch for these
When you compare solar quotes in Cape Town, check that the battery capacity is usable kWh, that the inverter is sized for your biggest loads (geyser, oven, pool pump), and that SSEG registration is included. A cheaper quote that skips registration can cost you later: the City can require unregistered systems to be registered or disconnected, and you cannot sell power back under the City’s Cash for Power programme without it. If you already have a quote, send it to us and we’ll give you a free second opinion, no strings attached.
Who we quote for
Most of our quotes are for family homes in the Blouberg and Table View area, Durbanville, the northern suburbs and the southern suburbs. We also quote for battery-only backup, for adding panels or batteries to an existing system, and for businesses, farms and guest houses. For a price breakdown by system size, see our solar installation cost guide.

Frequently asked questions
How long does it take to get a solar quote?
Usually within 24 hours of receiving your details on WhatsApp. The price is then confirmed after a free site check.
Is the quote free?
Yes. The online quote and the site check are free and there is no obligation to go ahead.
Do I need to send my electricity bill?
It helps. A photo of a recent bill, or your prepaid purchase history, lets us size the system properly. You can send it in the WhatsApp chat after submitting the form.
Does the quote include City of Cape Town registration?
Yes. Our quotes include the CoC and the SSEG registration paperwork the City of Cape Town requires for grid-connected systems.
Can you check a quote I got from another installer?
Yes. Choose “Check a quote I already got” in the form and send us the quote. We'll tell you honestly whether it looks fair and complete.
